Hi! I’m Becca 👋

I’m a Senior Product Designer, currently living in Seattle.

I stumbled into UX by accident. Like many artsy teens applying to college, I was pressured to study something more “concrete”, and began college studying psychology. But I quickly discovered I was less interested in diagnosing people, and more passionate about understanding how people perceive and engage with the world around them – especially through digital mediums. My coursework expanded to classes in human-computer interaction, design, marketing, web development, and entrepreneurship. (I saw the connections between these courses, but my academic advisor was certainly confused.)

In my final semester, I was introduced to the career of UX by complete coincidence. A classmate mentioned his friend was starting a Meetup group called Ladies That UX in Dallas, and said “what she does sounds like what you’re really passionate about.” I was immediately hooked and knew I found my calling. I signed up for the User Experience Course at SMU’s Continuing Education Program, which kickstarted my career, and I now have over 7 years of experience in the industry.

In my free time, I like to travel and befriend stray cats.

What I’m passionate about in my work

Working in ambiguous and loosely defined problem spaces, and turning that ambiguity into clarity and confidence.

Diving into highly complex environments and becoming a subject matter expert in record time

Identifying new product opportunities, and partnering with product teams to turn that idea into a reality

Leveraging rapid prototyping to enable teams to learn and react quickly

Building a collaborative, supportive, and educational environment where teams can do their best work and learn from each other.

Distilling complex findings into actionable, easy to understand documentation that you’ll refer to for years
